Government Bans Boyband BTS from Entering Indonesia If They Refuse Quarantine

The government does not allow the South Korean music group, Bangtan Boys (BTS) to enter Indonesian territory if they do not comply with quarantine rules. BTS plans to hold a music concert in Batam, Riau Islands Province.

Alex emphasized that the government will continue to enforce Circular Letter Number 23 of 2021 concerning International Travel Health Protocols During the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) Pandemic for international travelers entering Indonesia. This rule is to protect the Indonesian people from the threat of a new variant of Omicron.

Must Obey the Rules
Previously, the Director of Prevention and Control of Direct Infectious Diseases at the Ministry of Health, Siti Nadia Tarmizi, asked BTS to comply with quarantine rules when entering Indonesian territory.

“We hope that all parties can comply with the quarantine rules for the common good,” he told merdeka.com, Tuesday (30/11).

The quarantine period for international travelers has been regulated in the Circular Letter of the Task Force for Handling Covid-19 Number 23 of 2021 concerning International Travel Health Protocols During the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) Pandemic.

In this regulation, international travelers, both foreigners and Indonesian citizens who do not have a history of traveling to 11 countries, have detected the Omicron variant in the last 14 days, are required to undergo a 7-day quarantine upon arrival in Indonesia.

The 11 countries are South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho, Eswatini, Mozambique, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Angola, Namibia and Hong Kong. Meanwhile, foreigners who have a history of travel to these 11 countries in the last 14 days are temporarily suspended from granting their visas.

This visa suspension arrangement is exempted for foreigners holding diplomatic and service visas, foreign officials at the ministerial level and above and their entourage who make official/state visits, enter with the Travel Corridor Arragement scheme, and delegates from G20 member countries.

Reject Quarantine
The Korean company Incheon International Airport Corporation (IIAC) offered to bring their country’s idol, BTS, to appear in Batam in signing a cooperation agreement to develop Hang Nadim Airport.

However, he continued, there was one condition proposed by the Korean side, namely BTS came and performed without going through the quarantine process in Indonesia.

His party is currently consulting with the Ministry of Health regarding quarantine rules. Because the mayor doesn’t want to violate the rules during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Incidentally he (BTS) does not want to be isolated. So it is being taken care of. If they are allowed to attend, if they are not allowed they will not go to Batam. But we are trying,” said the mayor.
