North Korean leader Kim Jong-un criticized the morale of military officials and ordered them to establish better moral discipline. This order was conveyed when he was leading a meeting with top military officials which saw the removal of two commanders.

Wednesday’s meeting – the first meeting of the Workers’ Party of Korea’s (WPK) Eighth Central Military Commission – involved a number of leadership reshuffles, including the removal of two military commanders. The minister of national defense and director of the ruling General Political Bureau in the military were also promoted to Deputy Marshal.
According to Rodong Sinmun, the meeting discussed a series of deficiencies revealed in military and political activity and the moral life of commanders of the Korean People’s Army (KPA). Berita Terkini
The meeting also emphasized the establishment of a comprehensive “command system” of the ruling Party Central Committee over the military.
“[Kim Jong-un] said that upholding revolutionary moral discipline within the KPA was not just a technical problem, but a fatal problem related to the existence of the KPA and the success or failure of building up troops and military activities,” wrote Rodong Sinmun and the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA). The report added that Kim stressed the need to strengthen education and control over the “moral point of view” of the “new generation” of military officials.
After discussing the “political consciousness” and “moral life” of senior military officials, the meeting concluded with important promotions in the ranks of the military as well as several reshuffles. However, it was not determined who was removed.
According to Rodong Sinmun, state defense minister Kim Jong Gwan and director of the KPA General Political Bureau Kwon Yong Jin were promoted to the rank of Deputy Marshal. Avril Lavigne Fanpage
The commander of the Korean People’s Army Navy was replaced by Kim Song Gil, who was promoted to Vice Admiral. Kim Chung Il became the new commander for the KPA Air Force and Anti-Aircraft and was promoted to Lieutenant General.
Kim Myong Sik has previously been commander of the Navy since 2017, while Kim Kwang Hyok has been commander of the Air Force and Anti-Aircraft since December 2016.
